This is how it goes.
So basically... My name is Max Wyman and I have decided to take a gap year before college, for many reasons, such as: not being absolutely thrilled with the college I was about to attend, and wanting to explore and experience life. Just that sentence alone makes me happy. I can't think of a better time, personally, to take a gap year because there is a lot I have to learn about myself, and about who I really want to be. Now... about what I am actually doing.
I will be volunteering on organic farms across the country. Wow, right? Yeah pretty out there I guess, but when you actually take a second to think about it, it kinda makes sense. I am always looking for a different route to take, or a way to separate myself because being cliche is not in my bag of tricks. I will be volunteering my hours during the day, farming, and I will be fed and housed by the host farm family that fosters me. My first farm is in Emmitsburg, Maryland and my second is in Vienna, Maine. So... join me on this blog while I try to find myself and also learn the ropes of farming ;).

Day 17
I woke up at 8 today because I thought I deserved a little sleep in time for my hard work yesterday. Turns out I can probably wake up that late everyday if I subtract the word game play in my bed. I went down to the kitchen and again made myself PB and J toast, with a glass of water. As I was eating Laura asked me so is this Colby visit going to be informational, like going to a class, or social. Well I don't think I will be going to a class, so more social I guess? Are you kidding me.............. NICE LAURA. AFter breakfast I got ready, and found out that Zoelli was going back to the cheese farm today, but a little later. So we went and id the chicken chores. Thank goodness we had no casualties, and then we started weeding inside the greenhouse. I helped Harold move some broccoli plants out of the way for a new row of soil, and picked some parsley to help open up the row. Parsley is amazing, maybe its my Passover speaking, but it reminds me of great times. Not for what it stands for at Passover per say just the holiday itself. After I bring in the leaves to Laura, I went back out and weeded with Zoelli for about 30 minutes until her cheese lady came to pick her up. In those thirty minutes we managed to get into a pretty heated debate about medication. Zoelli has high blood pressure but refuses to take medication for her illness. We got into a huge argument about taking medication, and all Zoeli kept saying to me was you just need to go and inform yourself, and then make opinions about it. And that got me upset because one, it sounded like I was ignorant on the topic, and two it sounded like she didn't actually know anything enough to tell me. After I finally got some opinion out of her, it just sounded like a big conspiracy theory, which is dumb. Take it, I have played with the idea before that hospitals and doctors are looking for money, always. But then that wouldn't make any sense because then you can't trust anyone, and that is not a way to live your life. After Josh came and told her that the cheese lady was ready, we ended the argument on a bad note, so bad in fact that she came back 10 minutes after walking out and trying to explain more about her position. The whole argument was kind of dumb, but I didn't do much talking back even. It was mainly her just spewing out the information she thought she had right in her head. And who knows, maybe she is right. But more likely not. So after she left I weeded until 1230 and then came in for chicken soup. I burnt my tongue on the first bite, which was terrible. Burning your tongue is one of the all time worst things that can happen in a short period of time. I could barely taste the rest of my meal, and dinner for that matter, AND my dessert. After lunch I came back to my room, and rested, and was on the computer until 130, when I went down to the basement, and started to make soil blocks. Like I was doing last night. I had no problem doing them today because, one I started at 130 and two there was a whole lot less soil for me to fix up. I worked pretty diligently, and started to get the hang of making soil blocks. It only took me about an hour and forty five minutes to do eight trays worth of blocks, which was pretty fast. I then went out and tried to wee dome of the spinach, but it was too cold to weed outside with nothing on my hands. My hands got cold, and the soil was too hard for me to pull the weeds out, so I gave up. I went to go find Zoelli, but turns out she went upstairs early, and did nothing. Nice. So I went and did the chicken chores, and washed the eggs, and then went to ask Josh if he needed help with anything because it was pretty early by the time I finished, about 4. Then Harold came back form the store with more soil, and asked if I wanted to do some more blocking. I didn't say no, but I didn't say yes. So we basically just set up the soil for tomorrow when he leaves, so it would be easy for me. So tomorrow will be a long long day of soil blocking, but hopefully Zoelli will help and it will take half the time. After I came in I rested for awhile, didn't do much, and then dinner was pasta, that tasted pretty bland. But to counter the bland my Reese's, and three cupcakes came in huge. After dinner I took a shower, and then Zoelli came in my room. She wanted to apologize for her stance on the topic today, and wanted to make sure there was no "bad blood" between us. Which there obviously wasn't because it was just a silly argument. Later I called a bunch of people I haven't talked to in a while, and it as really nice. Its always nice to catch up with people, even if you never really knew them very well. Who's ever reading should do it to at least one person today. On that note. Nighty.
