Not going to college? ...classic.
This is how it goes.
So basically... My name is Max Wyman and I have decided to take a gap year before college, for many reasons, such as: not being absolutely thrilled with the college I was about to attend, and wanting to explore and experience life. Just that sentence alone makes me happy. I can't think of a better time, personally, to take a gap year because there is a lot I have to learn about myself, and about who I really want to be. Now... about what I am actually doing.
I will be volunteering on organic farms across the country. Wow, right? Yeah pretty out there I guess, but when you actually take a second to think about it, it kinda makes sense. I am always looking for a different route to take, or a way to separate myself because being cliche is not in my bag of tricks. I will be volunteering my hours during the day, farming, and I will be fed and housed by the host farm family that fosters me. My first farm is in Emmitsburg, Maryland and my second is in Vienna, Maine. So... join me on this blog while I try to find myself and also learn the ropes of farming ;).

Day 24
I am not sure if I should write another blog tomorrow, or call it at this. Yea, I guess it would be more classic if I wrote one tomorrow night. So my last day. It doesn't really feel like my last day, even now. I can't really comprehend that tomorrow night I will be at my house in Rancho Palos Verdes. I woke up at 8 and was ready for my last day of work. Even though I could barely move my wrists, and my forearms were numb, I still was planning on cutting wood the whole day. I ate cheese and tomatoes on toast, which was a nice switch up. I got ready to cut wood, and went outside. Harold promised me his full self, to help with wood. In about an hour of cutting and moving we hauled in the equivalent of what I could produce in two and half hours. Not bad. But bad for my arms. I felt like my left arm was going to break off, and also Harold was helping but with the busy work. He was marking wood, and filling my chainsaw, not with actually moving the logs or cutting them. This was kind of ridiculous I thought, but then again he threw out his back awhile ago cutting wood. So we cut for a good 3 hours until lunch, and a few things happened while cutting wood, I thought mentionable. 1. Harold is famous for grabbing your attention. He will use your first name ( to grab your attention ) while talking about anything really. He will say "And Max just how incredible is that?". Classic Harold. He also does this funny thing ( which I am sure every person who is reading has known some on to do this ) where he will try to finish the words to your sentence to make it seem like you have the same thought. It's actually hilarious haha. 2. Some of the logs on top of the pile were looking like they were going to fall down, so I decided to climb on top of the pile, and try to force them down with my foot. I kicked one down, and before I knew it 7 humongous logs were coming tumbling down. I instinctively ran out of the way just as they crashed to the ground. Laura came up to us while we were cutting and told me that I would be going out on the lake after lunch as a little goodbye treat. I was super stoked, because it meant I would be working less, and I knew that the lake had some amazing views. I was excited about that, but my excitement dwindled to nothing afar I kind of broke the tool that is used to lever and move logs easily. It is a small tool, about 4 ft high made of wood, and metal teeth to grip the wood. What happened was that Harold pinched the chainsaw ( when you are cutting sometimes in the middle of log, that is resting on two logs on each end, the wood collapses inward and catches the saw ) and he wanted me to lever the log up so he could slide the saw out. I used the wrong side of the tool so that the wooden part was the lever, and in a few seconds I just heard a crack! I wasn't sure if I had broke it, but when I took it out that was a small crack in the wood. Harold blames himself for not warning me about it, but it was pretty much my fault. Lunch was chicken noodle soup and muffins. A much more talkative lunch, and enjoyable. I went up to my room to relax, and Josh stopped in my room and told me I could come down whenever I was ready. So I put on my nikes, and grabbed a jacket and met Josh outside. He was holding two paddles, two life jackets, and two towels..? Interesting. We walked for a good 10 minutes to the water past a bunch of land they don't use, and went through an amazingly beautiful forest, to the waters edge. Where there was a canoe, and a kayak. Josh hoisted the canoe in the water, and waited for me to hop in first. Josh was mainly doing the steering from the back, and I would add some help here and there, but I was mainly just chill axing. We talked about everything from school, to my plans, to Southern California. It was a really nice ride, and it just made me like Josh more. He is a very composed man, and even though he is shy, he is very level headed deep down. Right as we were coming back he decided he wanted to jump in. After we docked the canoe, I guess he had a speedo handy and dove right in. I don't know why he did, but he said just to say I did. We walked back, and he invited me to help milk the cows tonight. I had never tried, so I thought why not. I faintly heard the chainsaw going, and was unsure who would be cutting unless someone was helping Harold. And of course, someone was. Troy. I had never seen him cut wood before, but as soon as I walked up Harold became this sports broadcaster, telling me to watch the professional, Troy. He was still giving me lessons on my last day, but that's Harold for ya. After helping Troy cut wood, and moving wood for him, we called it a day at around 4, and I complete my last round of chicken chores. I still can't believe I am going home tomorrow. It seems so foreign to be going to my home. I went upstairs got cleaned up, and then Josh called me down at 5 to milk the cows. I went in the barn with them, and then went to go round up one of the milking cows. We brought her in the barn and tied her so that she could eat food while we worked. Josh gave me a full tutorial on how I should milk the utter, but it didn't sam to be working for me. It was a ton harder than I thought. After awhile I got the hang of it. Mainly you want to pinch the top of the utter, and then slowly press your way down to get the milk out. Ross and Josh are professionals, but they had been doing it for quite some time now. After I threw out my back milking, I let Josh take over, and went inside to shower. For dinner we had burgers, compliments of Ross ( and Stanley the cow ), and it was my last supper. It has taken about a month to feel relaxed and comfortable at the dinner table, but it has finally happened, and I enjoy it now. Too bad it was my last. After dinner, Zoelli and I hung out for awhile, and now its about time for me to call the rents. So the next time you will hear from me, I will be in my house writing from the computer room...weird. Nighty.

Day 23
I woke up at 745 today because I went to bed so early I think. I had just toast with jelly this morning. But while I was putting my bread in the toaster, Harold comes in from the barn, and beckons Hey max can you come fire up the chainsaw for me I want to see if it is working. I was half asleep still, and wasn't sure if he was joking or not. But by his Stonewall Jackson stance, I could tell he wasn't. So I went outside in socks, and yanked on the lever as hard as I could, and after one tug, it turned on. Meh. So I went back inside to my meal. After I started the chainsaw, I knew that today was going to be a long day. I got dressed, and after I collected eggs, I was about to wash them, but Harold stopped me short and told me I could go cut wood instead. So I went out and started. Measure, cut, move, refill chainsaw, repeat. I did this for 3 and a half hours until lunch, and the only thing that really hurt were my wrists. The way that you have to cradle the really big logs forces you to bend your wrist in a very awkward way, therefore making mine feel broken. My arms were, and still are extremely sore, but I thought hey, I leave in two days, why not work hard. By lunch Ross, and Harold had left to meet with a gallery owner, to discuss Ross's artwork being displayed. It actually sounded like a pretty big accomplishment for Ross at the raw age of 22. For lunch we had burritos, which for some reason really spiked my appetite, and I ate two full burritos, with a bowl of salad. Pretty solid if you ask me. After lunch, I relaxed, because I was planning on cutting wood the whole day. Right when I was going out to start again, Laura wanted me to cut at my discretion because she didn't want me getting hurt. I told her it was ok because I was going home in two days anyways. It seems that anything is ok, since I am going home in two days. I went back out and cut for a good hour and forty five minutes, until Zoelli came to me. She claimed that she was done weeding, and wanted to help me cut. I wasn't quite sure what she could do since she told me she couldn't move the logs, and was ant wearing shoes. Just then a former Woofer came to the house to pick up his car that he had left here. His name is Gabe and he is 27. A super, super nice guy, a bit shy, but very laid back. He was only coming back for his car, but the Grams took it that he would stay for a day to help out and cut wood, and then take me to the airport. How wrong they were, for Gabe was planning on only staying for one night. This conflict created some discussion, but in the end Gabe is leaving tomorrow morning. He felt bad that he couldn't help the next day, so he came and helped me with wood, which by the way takes like 30 minutes less per time. It was amazing. So we cut and moved until 430, and then did the chickens and went in to call it a day. For dinner we had chicken and potatoes, and broccoli, which was fine, but I was hoping for something better. Dinner was pretty normal with the conversation percentages being as 10% inclusive to the whole table and 90% exclusive to half the table. After dinner, Zoelli and Gabe played chess, and I made some calls, and now it is past my bedtime. The last working day tomorrow, go big or go home. Nighty.

Day 22
I slept like a baby last night. I woke up at 755 easy money. I went down to breakfast, and I hate to say it but it was good to have my classic Pb and J toast again. I ate, and got ready to go work, but of course Zoelli wanted to wait 15 minutes until they got up, insisting that it was logical. So, I waited and then we went down to do the chicken chores. After we completed those, he had me wash spinach for a little while, until he had eaten breakfast, and then began the tomato work. I picked all the ripe tomatoes from 4 rows, lining the 96 ft of greenhouse. After that, I started to take down all of the plants, because they were pst their prime. This is what took me the rest of the day. You have to pull the root of the plant from the ground, detach the clasps then hold it to a string, which is hanging from a metal wire about 8ft from the ground. The work was so repetitive, and you couldn't really take breaks, so it seemed to go on forever. We worked until lunch, which was leftovers, which I always seem to enjoy here. Usually Laura, adds in a little something new to each leftover dish, so its never really that predictable. Lunch, was enjoyable, and then I went to my room to see what time my flight was actually leaving, and surfed the web. When we went back out, we had the same exact job, until the day was over. Besides the constant conversation with Zoelli, and all the jokes we now have, the job was utterly terrible. Nothing really happened today that was memorable, I kind of just was mainly thinking about how I want to be home, and how boring the work was. A few funny things happened that Zoelli told me though. While I was gone at Colby, Laura asked Zoelli if she had ever seen my woofing icon picture. Laura told her that i looked like a crazy person, and if my mom hadn't shmoozed up Harold for about an hour and a half on the phone before I left, they wouldn't have accepted me! How classic is that. For those who can't see my picture, it is from photo booth, and I am throwing up a shaka...above earth in front of the moon ( with the cool changing background application ). I thought it was hilarious how Laura told Zoelli that. And thanks mom ;). Another funny thing that happened was that Harold asked me about my message machine. I had forgot that I had set it to me speaking gibberish, because for the amount of people that are calling me, it all seems way too classic that they heard that when I didn't answer. If you have my number you should try calling just to hear it, because its hilarious. He asked if it actually meant something, and I had to explain it was just me being funny. After we finally finished our duties, we went to do chicken chores, and then called it a day. We came in at 545 and we worked about 9 hours, but for some reason today was so tiring for me. I don't know why. Maybe it was because I hadn't worked in awhile, or because I wanted to go home, but I was so tired, and fed up with the work. Hopefully my last two days won't be like that. Well anyways. Nighty.

Day 20/ 21
I woke up at around 1045, and Wayne was already up and at em'. He was complaining abut a throbbing headache. We both took showers, and then got dressed for lunch. Wayne is a big croc wearer, and he always has been. But, I do have to say that as against them as I was, after this weekend, I for sure will be entering college with them. They are just too darn convenient. Wayne's croc colors are pretty crazy : neon green, neon orange. A little too crazy for a first timer like me. We went to lunch at a new cafeteria, Dana. Even though it was 1130 I still ate two bowls of fruit loops. Sometimes you can't beat the classics. Wayne used his last free gust meal pass on me that meal, and I have to just award Wayne right no for being the monist awesome host ever. He did an awesome job of showing me around, and introducing me to awesome people, and giving me free meals. After lunch, we headed to the library. I have to say, being in a library reminds me of home. I don't know why, because I never spent that much time in the library during high school, but for some reason it does. It brings a nice quiet feel. So I worked on my blog, and was on Facebook while Wayne was doing spanish homework. That sounded terrible. We taped for about an hour and a half, and then it was time to play a pickup game of basketball. I was pretty excited to play, because unlike soccer, I actually have a better background in basketball. So we went to the gym, and started shooting around, while another pickup game was going on. After about 30 minutes of shooting around, the actual mens basketball team took over the court, and kicked us to the smaller court. There we played for about 2 hours, of solid 4 v. 4 games to 15. Besides another guy that was there named Clay, I was the tallest, but definitely not the strongest. I played decently well, I scored about 5 points per game, and I was getting a bunch of rebounds because of my height and jumping ability. I wasn't that aggressive though, because I didn't see it fit to be. I was playing a pickup game with a bunch of people I didn't know that well, no need to take it over the top. I was extremely tired after the two hour playing, and directly after we walked to dinner. We walked back with an international student, JJ, form Rwanda who was extremely nice. We played basketball with him, and he is just a genuinely awesome person. We met Wayne's friends for dinner and I had some pasta and grilled cheese. I have to say that the cafeteria food was alright, but I could not see myself eating it for more than a year, which is a shame because if I went there, I would be...classic. After dinner I took a nice hour and a half nap, while Wayne was video chatting his girlfriend from Colombia. I took shower, and wasn't quite sure where Wayne was, because it had been a while since he started, but I got dressed and waited for him in his room. After a good 30 minutes of waiting him and his friends from downstairs came banging on the door asking me to come down and hangout with them. They were going off campus to a party, and with some guidance by Wayne I courteously declined their offer to go out, but I hung out with them before they left, because for most it was the last time I would see them. They really all were a nice group of kids, and I miss em' already. After they left, Wayne and I decide to go see a movie, even though we were running late. We ran into the Ides of March, and missed the first 15 minutes, but the rest of the movie was amazing. It was extremely suspenseful, and the ending was extremely ambiguous. Classic George Clooney. Wayne and I were basically both mind blown, after the movie, and the 5 minute drive home was crowded with questions from the film. We got back to the dorm, and hangout with his roommate Chris who was from Portland. He was a super cool guy, super personable and really into rock climbing. We went to bed around 130, and then this morning we woke up at 850. Wayne showered, but I opted out because I knew I would be working at least a half day, and I would shower later. So we packed up, and we went to breakfast, which wasn't half bad. I had some bacon, which I haven't had in much too long, and some potatoes, and cereal. We then went to one of Wayne's friends rooms and woke up his friend. Hung out for a little, and by that time it was time for me to depart from Colby. As we walked to where Troy was a picking me up I thanked Wayne too many times to count, and then wished him the best with the rest of his year, and his studies, and he wished the same for me. Overall I liked Colby a lot. At the start of my visit I had mixed feelings. Wayne had a tough time there his first year, and Ii could definitely feel that. I felt that the campus was quiet, because I only saw a few people walking around during the middle of the day. But, after my stay, I really really enjoyed the school. Besides its gorgeous campus, the people are gorgeous in their own way too, well at least the ones that I met. Everyone is super nice, and super down to earth, and they are extremely focused on their studies. I liked the environment, and in the end I actually think I liked how small it was. It felt more like a small tight knit community to be honest. By the time I left I had seen multiple people that I had met over the past day or two, frequently around campus. It was fun, but maybe in later years could get old? Strange to think about. But anyways, the ride back to the farm was quick, Troy and I talked about colleges, and standardized testing, and before I knew it I was hauling my big red backpack up into my room again. I unpacked and then got dressed for some work on the farm, and went out to pick spinach for an hour before lunch. We had a steak stew, and some good conversation at the table. I was surprised because apparently the whole family had seen my profile picture, that I took before I left, and they all thought it was hilarious, and my caption was even better. We talked about how my weekend was, and so forth. After lunch I finished my blog of yesterday, and then went back out and picked spinach until 545. So even though I came back at 1130, I still worked about 5 hours today. Not bad. Dinner was a chicken type stew that they put on bread like a sandwich, which was very good with some cherry tomatoes. After diner they finally had their homemade ice cream. I still don't get why they only eat dessert sometimes, but it was nice. After dinner, I called the rents, and winded down a little bit. I can't wait to be home already! Nighty.
Day 19
I wanted to sleep in, but at 8 o clock I decided that it was late enough. I took my time getting ready, and I went out at 830 with an apple as breakfast, and did the chicken chores. I was excited that all I had to do was collect the eggs, and feed the animals and then I was a free man for the weekend. However, Josh had different plans. He told Zoelli that after we did the chores he would like for us to pick a bucket of spinach each...classic. I wasn't sure if he knew that I was leaving in about an hour or two, but we still did the work anyways. I was on turbo mode because I wanted to get packed up, and I h ad big plans for a hilarious picture that is now my profile picture on facebook. I have started to get a little annoyed with the information Zoelli will spew out ant any chance she gets, about everything. And her sources include...the internet. I am in no way saying that that is a bad way to get information, but all she does when we are not farming is look up things on wikipedia and google, and then tell me about them. So when she starts to go on a rantI usually become pretty unresponsive, just because sometimes I genuinely dont feel the need to add to it. So we picked spinach, and then Josh told us we could start to pick some carrots. And thats when Zoelli told him, that we both had the day off, and Josh was just uninformed. So after we picked the spinach I went to go pu ton a flannel and take the picture that I have wanted to take. I thought it would be hilarious to take a picture posing next to my wood pile, to feed everyones stereotype about what I am doing when I tell them I cut wood. It is a real classic picture, and the caption had to be equally as classic : just another day. #genius. After the picture, I went upstairs to pack my things up, and I did a practice SAT section before I left as well. When it was 11 Troy and I left the house and entered the Honda Prelude, which looked like it was made in the late 19th century. It even sounded like it too. The ride was pretty quick, especially because Troy just keeps on talking and talking. It's strange how he can be so talkative, but not very social. Basically the whole car ride consisted of Troy explaining how a car works to me. I thought it so interesting that I didn't even know where the battery of a car was, but I have been driving for two years now. I love learning about those kinds of things. We approached Waterville, and if there wasn't a welcoming sign, I dont think I would have realized we were there. What I mean is that Waterville is not a very flamboyant, or large town for that matter. We pulled into the school, and Wayne was taking a shower, and wasn't near his phone, so I told Troy that I would just start walking to Wayne's dorm ( even though I had absolutely no idea where it was ). That's the good thing about having a 20 year old guy drop you off somewhere, as opposed to a worry-some mother who won't leave until they know that whomever you are meeting is in sight ;). So I went off and wandered into Colby. I had no sense direction, but I assumed I was walking towards the middle of campus. It was insanely gorgeous. The trees color was so colorful, and bright that it completely caught the autumn feel. Wayne finally called me back and he gave me directions ( which turned out to be wrong ) and so I couldn't find where he was talking about, so compromised with myself to sit on a bench and wait for him. I people watched for a little. It was super nice, just observing everything that was going on around me. Wayne called again and I spotted him from a good 100 feet away, because of his bright tie-dye shirt. I walked over, and in full embrace I realized how nice it was too see someone from Palos Verdes. We walked for a little, and as soon as we walked into a library esc. building wayne completely ditched me to do some survey, and at first I felt a little awkward, but then I remembered I was a farmer, and it was alright...classic. I looked around, and then Wayne introduced me to his close friends. Three girls, one named Olivia, who was immensely frantic because she was convinced she just got a problem wrong on a midterm. One named Jen, who was pretty quiet, but super nice. And one named Sam who reminded me of a girl I knew in high school. Sam was super cute, and kind of quirky, but I had some strange liking towards her. After I was introduced to them, Wayne and I branched off and went to eat at one of the cafeterias. He gave me a guest pass, and I was excited to finally eat something other than Lauras home style cookin'. The food was alright, not amazing; but the dessert was classic. We talked a lot about my farm, and all the crazy things I have written about on this blog, and then we talked about Colby, and Wayne sure id have a lot to say. Wayne is a very interesting person because he is extremely steadfast in his beliefs. He doesn't waste his time for douchebags. He told me that last year was hard because he had a hard time connecting to people. He wanted to change the social scene here because he felt like people weren't truly being who they wanted, and they were all just focused on getting drunk. I said Newsflash Wayne welcome to college. He found it hard to have heart to hearts with people on campus. Personally, and call me an egotistical loser if you you would like, but I kind of pride myself on opening up people and creating relationships with all types of people, so the problems Wayne expressed, I felt, didn't apply to me. After lunch, we went back to his dorm, which was smaller than I imagined, but still nice. After hanging out for 30 minutes, we went and practiced soccer with his intramural team. I was a little nervous to be honest, because I don't play soccer, and I never really have. But, it turns out the guys that were playing weren't that much better than me anyways...classic. We goofed around for a little, and then we scrimmaged, and I was definitely still getting used to it, but I wasn't doing terrible. Then we moved fields, because the girls high school team needed the field. We played a bunch of 4 on 4 games, and it was really fun. I definitely prefer to be on defense, because with offense you have to dribble really well, and I am just not that skilled. With defense you just have to be very focused and make sure the ball doesn't pass you. We played for another 2 hours, and we ended playing a sort of two on two game, and Wayne and I ended up winning it, which was fun. After that we went to the gym. Classic case of my first time going to a gym besides for Peninsula Volleyball Winter training. Wayne did his routine for a while, and I awkwardly did some ab work and bicep work. AFter 30 minutes Wayne decided he was too tired to continue, so we called it a day for working out. We went back to his dorm, and showered, and then went to a goodwill store, because Wayne needed a suit for a student government event. After that we came back and went to dinner with the crew of girls I m et earlier, and a guy named Andrew. Andrew is a super nice guy, who carries his camera everywhere. He's that guy. I had some pesto panini's for dinner, and then some ice crea, for dessert. It was at dinner that, with a group effort we convinced Wayne to go out. That made me happy, because I wanted Wayne to join me if we went to a party. After dinner, we went to a fortune teller. I was pretty against getting my fortune told, because I thought it kind of dumb. I dont really want someone to tell me my future for me. I am already worried about what I am going to do as it is, why would I need to worry any more. But Wayne and his friends thought otherwise, and they made me join them. I just decided to take a different route with it, as I do with many things. I thought it would be funny/ interesting to get to know her, rather than have her try to get to know me. I asked her about where she was born, her upbringing and when she knew she was going to be a fortune teller ( to which she responded: since I was born...classic ). After the fortune teller we went back to Waynes room, and got prepared for the night ahead. We went to one of the girls rooms that I had met earlier, and conveniently was only one floor below us. We hung out there and "pre-gamed" in her room before we left to go to a dance party on campus. It was hard to convince Wayne to come out, but once he came in the girls' room there was no escaping the night ahead. After what seemed like 20 people eventually came into the room, we decided to head out to the dance party. It was maybe only a 5 minute walk to the dorm and when we got in, it was packed. It was weird though. I kind of felt like I was at a high school dance. There was a small lingering of awkwardness in the air, and a pinch of explicit behavior on the dance floor. It was interesting though. But as soon as we got there Wayne decided to go back to his dorm, on account of this wasn't his scene. That kind of stunk because then I had no for sure friend to hangout with. I mainly hung out with one of Wayne's friends at the dance, and another girlfriend of hers. We were all dancing together, but at some points it seemed like the other friend wanted to go somewhere else, or do something else, and so I kind of felt like I was hiding them back. So I told Wayne's "girl friend" that it was cool if they wanted to leave I could just go back to Wayne's dorm. They insisted I stay, but I thought it would be a good time to walk back anyways. I usually don't have tricks up my sleeve, but I thought hey, why not. So when she asked me if I knew how to get back, I said well maybe kind of. So she insisted on walking me back, even though it was a pretty simple walk. #score. So we walked and talked until we were in front of the dorm, and then we just talked. We talked for awhile, and then I mentioned that we should walk and talk some more. We ended up going into the nearest dorm lounge because it got so cold. The extent of the night turned into talking for a good 2 hours, about her and what she likes to do, and some about me. She is a totally interesting girl, and the nicest I have met. At about 205 we decided to go back to Wayne's dorm, and when we walked in, we almost got lost because the dorms connect in a way. We ended up finding our way back, but just as we were going the right direction, a girl I had met earlier that night walks out of her room with a Large Pizza from Papa John's and offers it to us, actually she rather just dropped it off. So we sat and ate pizza for awhile, and talked some more, and at 230 I walked into Wayne's dorm. What an awesome night. Maybe not the best party scene, but totally entertaining. Nighty.

Day 18
I woke up at 750 this morning, and went down to join Ross for breakfast. I had another classic PB and J toast, with my insipid glass of water, and then got ready for the days work. I knew that today I wasn't going to be outside much, so I didn't feel like putting on my working pants. I kept my sweatpants on. I wasn't sure if Zoelli had eaten or not, but I assumed she did because she usually eats before me, so when I saw her going downy he stars I followed her down, to find out that she was eating breakfast at 830. #notchill. I went back upstairs and stalled, until I felt obligated to start the morning chores, with or without Zoelli. I am programmed to get to work as soon as I can because I don't want to be have to told to. It is just something with pleasing whomever I am working for I guess. As opposed to Zoelli. I was actually kind of ticked off that she slept until 830. Like yea, Harold won't say anything, but I mean we were already waking up late as it was. I just thought it was kind of disrespectful, and I went out and did the chicken chores by myself. I came in, and Zoelli offered to wash all the eggs, while I went down to the basement with Harold and start on our days work of soil blocks. I started doing a few by myself, and then Zoelli came down, and while I made the blocks with my cookie cutter instrument, Zoelli seeded and pressed them down. We had a pretty good system going. We talked of many things like usual. About my camp friends, and what I am doing tomorrow, which reminds me I have yet to say. I am going to Colby College tomorrow to visit a friend from PV who goes there, but I am mainly visiting because I am applying to the school, and I would like to see if it is a good fit for me. So I am stoked on the bon for that. So Zoelli and I blocked for about 3 hours until lunch. We made 16 blocks before lunch together. We ate an early lunch because Harold and Laura were leaving for Boston. So basically, after lunch Harold let me know that after I finished the 4 flats of soil, the day was over...classic. What an easy day I thought. So, Zoelli and I finished the last 4 flats, and then chilled out until 345 when I went out by myself and did the chicken chores alone again, just because I wasn't sure if Zoelli was asleep. I brought the eggs back in, and did some SAT practice. After feeling somewhat productive, I took a nice 2 hour nap. What a nap it was. I miss naps, because they make up for the lack I sleep during the night. What a classic invention. Naps. I woke up just in time for dinner. Ross cooked up some burgers, and I ate two of them. I was curious as to know whether the boys would do grace, and to my surprise they led it. Its funny, that just now, 6 days before I am going home, I finally feel comfortable partaking in the conversation with the boys. It took me awhile, but I can finally add in my one liners, that I am oh so famous for. They're all nice, at times extremely sarcastic, but funny nonetheless. After dinner I took a shower, called some peeps, and nowI am just waiting until tomorrow to visit Colby. Boo Yah. Nighty.

Day 17
I woke up at 8 today because I thought I deserved a little sleep in time for my hard work yesterday. Turns out I can probably wake up that late everyday if I subtract the word game play in my bed. I went down to the kitchen and again made myself PB and J toast, with a glass of water. As I was eating Laura asked me so is this Colby visit going to be informational, like going to a class, or social. Well I don't think I will be going to a class, so more social I guess? Are you kidding me.............. NICE LAURA. AFter breakfast I got ready, and found out that Zoelli was going back to the cheese farm today, but a little later. So we went and id the chicken chores. Thank goodness we had no casualties, and then we started weeding inside the greenhouse. I helped Harold move some broccoli plants out of the way for a new row of soil, and picked some parsley to help open up the row. Parsley is amazing, maybe its my Passover speaking, but it reminds me of great times. Not for what it stands for at Passover per say just the holiday itself. After I bring in the leaves to Laura, I went back out and weeded with Zoelli for about 30 minutes until her cheese lady came to pick her up. In those thirty minutes we managed to get into a pretty heated debate about medication. Zoelli has high blood pressure but refuses to take medication for her illness. We got into a huge argument about taking medication, and all Zoeli kept saying to me was you just need to go and inform yourself, and then make opinions about it. And that got me upset because one, it sounded like I was ignorant on the topic, and two it sounded like she didn't actually know anything enough to tell me. After I finally got some opinion out of her, it just sounded like a big conspiracy theory, which is dumb. Take it, I have played with the idea before that hospitals and doctors are looking for money, always. But then that wouldn't make any sense because then you can't trust anyone, and that is not a way to live your life. After Josh came and told her that the cheese lady was ready, we ended the argument on a bad note, so bad in fact that she came back 10 minutes after walking out and trying to explain more about her position. The whole argument was kind of dumb, but I didn't do much talking back even. It was mainly her just spewing out the information she thought she had right in her head. And who knows, maybe she is right. But more likely not. So after she left I weeded until 1230 and then came in for chicken soup. I burnt my tongue on the first bite, which was terrible. Burning your tongue is one of the all time worst things that can happen in a short period of time. I could barely taste the rest of my meal, and dinner for that matter, AND my dessert. After lunch I came back to my room, and rested, and was on the computer until 130, when I went down to the basement, and started to make soil blocks. Like I was doing last night. I had no problem doing them today because, one I started at 130 and two there was a whole lot less soil for me to fix up. I worked pretty diligently, and started to get the hang of making soil blocks. It only took me about an hour and forty five minutes to do eight trays worth of blocks, which was pretty fast. I then went out and tried to wee dome of the spinach, but it was too cold to weed outside with nothing on my hands. My hands got cold, and the soil was too hard for me to pull the weeds out, so I gave up. I went to go find Zoelli, but turns out she went upstairs early, and did nothing. Nice. So I went and did the chicken chores, and washed the eggs, and then went to ask Josh if he needed help with anything because it was pretty early by the time I finished, about 4. Then Harold came back form the store with more soil, and asked if I wanted to do some more blocking. I didn't say no, but I didn't say yes. So we basically just set up the soil for tomorrow when he leaves, so it would be easy for me. So tomorrow will be a long long day of soil blocking, but hopefully Zoelli will help and it will take half the time. After I came in I rested for awhile, didn't do much, and then dinner was pasta, that tasted pretty bland. But to counter the bland my Reese's, and three cupcakes came in huge. After dinner I took a shower, and then Zoelli came in my room. She wanted to apologize for her stance on the topic today, and wanted to make sure there was no "bad blood" between us. Which there obviously wasn't because it was just a silly argument. Later I called a bunch of people I haven't talked to in a while, and it as really nice. Its always nice to catch up with people, even if you never really knew them very well. Who's ever reading should do it to at least one person today. On that note. Nighty.
